Privacy Policy - Upstream Signals

Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 17, 2026 · Upstream Signals is a service of Dark Dog Mines, LLC.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Upstream Signals (“we,” “us,” “our”), a service of Dark Dog Mines, LLC, collects through upstreamsignals.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the site or subscribing to our emails, you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us. Your email address, and optionally the commodity or region you are interested in, when you subscribe to the free weekly brief; any message you send us, such as a sample request or inquiry; and, if you become a paying client, the business and billing details needed to provide and bill the service.

Information collected automatically. Standard server and security logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages viewed) used to operate and protect the site. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how the site is used; it does not use cookies, does not fingerprint visitors, and does not collect personal information. Our pages load open-source mapping libraries from a public content delivery network (cdnjs) to display interactive graphics.

The service is intended for business users. We do not seek or knowingly collect sensitive personal information.

2. How we use information

  • To deliver the free weekly brief and any updates you requested.
  • To respond to your inquiries and sample requests.
  • To provide, operate, secure, and improve the site and our paid products.
  • To send service or account messages, and to comply with our legal obligations.

3. Email and your consent

We send the weekly brief only to people who opt in, and we confirm your address with a confirmation email (double opt-in). Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe, and you can opt out at any time. We follow the U.S. CAN-SPAM Act, including honoring opt-out requests and including a valid postal address in our emails.

4. How we share information

We do not sell or share personal information. We disclose the information we hold only to service providers who help us operate, such as our email platform, website host, payment processor, and any analytics provider, under agreements that limit their use of it, and where required by law or to protect our rights, property, or safety.

5. What our signal lists contain, and how we contact businesses

Our signal lists and reports are compiled from public business sources and cover companies, projects, and the role or team to approach. They do not include the personal contact details of named individuals: no personal email addresses, no direct phone numbers, and no named person presented as a contact. Where a record indicates who to approach, it names a role or team, for example procurement or project leads, together with the public route to reach that team, such as a company careers or investor-relations page. Where we hold paid industry subscriptions, we use them only as a research and verification layer, and we do not republish subscriber-only content.

Separately from our products, we may contact business representatives directly to introduce our service, using business contact information that is publicly available. We use that information only to contact you about Upstream Signals, we do not sell or share it, and every message includes a way to opt out. If you ask us to stop, we remove you permanently. To be removed, email contact@upstreamsignals.com with “Do not contact” in the subject line.

6. Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any message. Whether or not you are a subscriber, you may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct or delete it, and to stop contacting you. To make a request, email contact@upstreamsignals.com with “Privacy request” in the subject line, and we will honor verifiable requests as required by law.

Depending on where you live, for example California, you may have additional rights to know what we collect, to delete it, and to correct it. Because we do not sell or share personal information, there is nothing to opt out of on that front, and you may ask us to stop contacting you at any time. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

7. Data retention

We keep subscriber information while you are subscribed and for as long as needed for our legitimate business purposes and legal obligations, after which we delete or anonymize it.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. International users

We are based in the United States and the service is intended for a U.S. audience. If you contact us or subscribe from outside the United States, you consent to your information being processed in the United States.

10. Children

The service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and post the updated version on this page.
